Helen Lucius, St. Annes-on-Sea Nursery Manager , The New Little Village Nursery in Ansdell Learning provider: Beneast Training
|
Why an Apprenticeship? I have been studying for my Apprenticeship in Management since September 2004. I undertook the course to increase my own knowledge and wanted to develop skills that would support my role managing the nursery. What's the best bit about an Apprenticeship? The flexible and practical nature of the learning coupled with the fact that tutors from Beneast visit me on site means that it fits perfectly with my working day and causes no disruption for me or my employer. Tutorials arein the evenings and I enjoy meeting other people undertaking the Apprenticeship to share best practice, swap ideas and we help each other with coursework and assignments”. “I’ve learnt so much in just the first six months and I’ve found it all incredibly relevant to my job. I can relate what I am learning to my own job role and implement it back at the nursery so it is proving really beneficial. It’s contributing not only to my professional development but also to my own personal development, which is an added bonus.

What are your ambitions for the future? “As the Apprenticeship progresses I will continue to learn and become more confident in my position, to the benefit of all the team here and I know as I develop the business will benefit. Ultimately my plan is to ensure I am the most effective and capable manager I can be and I feel the Apprenticeship is contributing to achieving these aims.” Her Learning Provider says “Learners really are gaining a lot from this Apprenticeship, and developing skills that will stand them in good stead for the future. We are delighted with Helen’s success.’ |
